The Class of 1923 Memorial Archives acknowledges the generosity of the Ball Family for their contribution to the creation and sustaining of the archival program at Asheville School.

However, preservation supplies and equipment for archives are expensive.  Below is a "wish list" of supplies and items needed to keep the processing and preservation of historical materials going for the next several years.

Photograph and Negative storage/preservation
The archives holds a large photographic collection that spans the entire existence of the school.  The prints are 20th century black & white silver gelatin prints, standard color prints, and color slides, as well as accompanying negatives.  The collection is in good shape, but each image needs to be sleeved for long-term preservation.  The school uses the archival images frequently in publications, exhibits, publicity mailings, etc.  The supplies suggested below will keep the preservation program of images and negatives busy for several years to come.

Scrapbook preservation
In about 1905, the school made official scrapbooks for the boys.  They have blue leather covers and the school seal is imprinted on it.  In them, boys put photographs, programs, letters, grade sheets, autographs, and school memories.  The archives holds about 18 scrapbooks, all of them in very poor condition due to the nature of the paper pages.  The scrapbooks are an important reference source about school life and culture.  Someday, the Archives would like to digitize them, but for now, they need to be stabilized and preserved.
