Asheville School Archives

Edmund F. Ball, '23, former CEO of the Ball Corporation, pledged $500,000 to establish the Asheville School Archives as an integral part of the school's teaching and learning mission.  An initial contribution of $66,000 provided funds to rehabilitate existing space and to rename the location as the Class of 1923 Archives.  This facility, located on the second floor of Memorial Hall just below the Skinner Library,  was dedicated on October 27, 2001.

The Class of 1923 Archives funds are provided in the spirit that Asheville’s institutional memory can be a web-based, 21st Century model of teaching and learning.

A bronze plaque recognizing Ed's generosity was also dedicated as was a plaque honoring Donna Lewis, school archivist from 1989-2003.
